Choosing a Double Umbrella Stroller
When you are looking for a double umbrella stroller it's crucial to assess your family's requirements and priorities. This will allow you to narrow down your options and focus on the most important features.
Uppababy G-Link 2 is an excellent, upscale double umbrella stroller, that's well-constructed and folds up compactly. It comes with large umbrellas and a large storage container. It is also very simple to move.
Lightweight
The best double umbrella strollers offer lots of features in a light, compact package. They're not as heavy as a traditional stroller or jogger, and they're usually smaller when folded. They lack the bells and whistles you'll find on larger strollers, however they typically come with large canopy, plenty of storage space and seating that reclines.
Many families choose a lightweight double umbrella stroller because it's an ideal stroller for travel. It's easy to fold and can be tucked away in the majority of trunks and airline carry-on bags, and is the best option for navigating the narrow streets and narrow doors. It's also less expensive than a "travel stroller" with more features you might use regularly.
Some of the top double umbrella strollers, like the UPPAbaby G-Link 2, have some features you won't find on lighter models. double buggy has hanging storage pockets, tray for snacks and toys on each seat, as well as two cup holders for parents. Its minimalist design makes it one of the most compact double umbrella strollers on the market. It folds easily and has an extra-wide canopy that protects both seats.
Other lightweight options, such as the Joovy Kooper X2, offer more bells and whistles than you would expect from a double stroller umbrella. It also offers more comfortable rides for both kids thanks to padded seats as well as a deeper recline on each seat. It's important to note, though, that the more features you choose, the more the stroller weighs. Additionally, due to the way strollers can be closed and opened it is important to be cautious not to let tiny fingers get caught on hinges or frames, especially when your child is in a seat.
Compact
The tiniest double umbrella strollers, when folded are easy to maneuver and fit in tight spaces. These strollers are an excellent choice for parents who will often use them on sidewalks, shopping malls, or to travel to tourist attractions like the zoo or aquarium. These lightweight, compact strollers can also be great to commute in or as a substitute for a heavier, more equipped stroller when traveling.
There are two main types of lightweight double umbrella products that have a few features and those that offer many comfort and convenience features in addition to their small size and light weight. Some of the most effective examples include large pop-out umbrellas with SPF 50, peekaboo windows and cushioned seats. They also come with 5-point safety harnesses on both sides, leg rests, and reclining seats. Other crucial aspects to take into consideration are whether or not you want a tray for parents or car seat attachment and how much storage space each seat has.
The Delta Children LX Double Umbrella is a great example of a basic, no-frills option that is extremely lightweight and incredibly affordable. The stroller weighs only 18 lbs, has an easy-to-carry strap and can be easily put in the trunk of your vehicle or in the front closet of your home. Its front wheels have precision technology and swivel to provide smooth riding and easy steering. Another highly recommended option is the brand new Kinderwagon Hop, a super narrow tandem umbrella stroller that's ultralight and easy to navigate through the doorways. The model was out of the market for a while but is now back in production and is worth a look. It also comes with a larger three-panel canopy that offers better sun protection than the less-than-perfect models in this review.
Easy to Fold
The most basic umbrella strollers fold like umbrellas and weigh much less than other kinds of strollers. This makes them easy to carry, lift and store when you don't want or don't have a full-size stroller for some reason (traveling on an airplane, touring a foreign city, visiting grandma). These strollers are typically not as feature-rich as full-featured models, but they should offer the basics including storage and a sun canopy.
The G-Link 2's most recent version is lighter, narrower and has a more efficient wheel structure on the front that enhances its maneuverability and pushability. It's a great choice for a stroller that can hold two children. It's Disney approved!
A double tri-fold stroller like the Joovy Kooper X2, offers all the features of a stroller with an umbrella, but with a body comparable in size to a regular full-size stroller. This kind of stroller is replacing the standard double umbrella stroller. It's probably the best option if you are seeking a light, multi-purpose stroller.
The majority of double umbrella strollers that we recommend are side-by-side models. The Kinderwagon Hop is an umbrella tandem stroller that is lightweight, easy to fold and quite small in width. This is a great option for those looking for a simple inexpensive double umbrella stroller that you can easily toss into your trunk for quick trips. It even comes with two storage bags that hang on the backs of each seat and cup holders for the parents. It's so basic, you might not be able to get your kids through the airport without noise. However, it can make the trip more enjoyable.
Comfortable Seats
The majority of umbrella strollers don't come with a variety of bells and whistles since they're designed with one purpose: to take two children from one place to the other. That means they usually offer seats that are spacious and comfortable, but don't have reclining options or wheels that are all-terrain.
The UPPAbaby G-Link 2 is the exception. It's a surprisingly light and compact double umbrella stroller that has two seats that weigh only 18 lbs each, making it a great option for travelers (it meets Disney size requirements). It has a great suspension, a large three-panel canopy that easily shields kids from the sun, and plenty of storage space in both seats, although not as much as our top choices. It also comes with the essential 5-point safety harnesses in both seats as well as windows that peek out in their canopies.
The G-Link isn't equipped with the bellybar or snack tray that we'd like to see on our top choices. But those features aren’t essential for an umbrella stroller. As with any umbrella stroller, it should be used with care to ensure that fingers - whether your own or that of a child get stuck in the hinges of the frame that fold and mechanisms.

The seats in double umbrella strollers are usually side-by-side, but there are some models that are inline (one seat behind the other). Inline models are more convenient to maneuver through doors than side-byside models, but they typically have a gap between the seating options that could make your kids argue over who has the better seat. This issue was pretty evenly divided among our previous test participants and it comes down to an individual choice.
Safety
When you are choosing a stroller for your child, safety should be the top priority. The design of the double stroller umbrella can make or break its performance. Although it's difficult to find a light double stroller that offers the same level of safety as the full-sized strollers, a few models are comparable. These strollers usually have 5-point harnesses, feet and calf rests for children, aswell as an extendable UPF 50+ sunvisor. They are typically also narrower and lighter than other double umbrella strollers, making them easier to maneuver through tight spaces such as airports or city streets.
Certain models, such as the Kinderwagon Hop are side-byside and are simple to push even in tiny spaces. This stroller is a great option for parents traveling with children and require a quick and convenient way to get around. It's also compact enough to fit into a trunk.
Another option worth considering is the UPPAbaby G-Link 2, which is among the lightest double umbrella strollers we tested. It features a surprisingly sturdy design for an umbrella-style product and features a large, accessible storage basket, reclining seats, and a peek-a-boo view. The seat can also hold 35 lbs and is able to meet Disney stroller size requirements.
Other models, such as the Jeep PowerGlide Double Stroller, may be more basic in appearance and may not come with as many features. However, these strollers are still very lightweight and can be used as a backup or for occasional travel purposes. They are also much cheaper than renting a stroller for an entire trip or vacation. They are easy to fold, lift, carry, and stow away.
